This project is a reflection of my learning journey in UI design. It started as an exploratory exercise inspired by an Instagram post that caught my attention. The post beautifully highlighted the core principle of interior design—"simpler means more." This idea resonated deeply with me and shaped my approach to this concept UI. UrbanNest is imagined as an interior design agency emphasizing simplicity, functionality, and style. The design embodies these qualities by balancing visual appeal with practicality, much like interior spaces that combine form and function seamlessly.
This design was completed within just two days, making it both a challenging and rewarding experience. Initially, the concept was packed with numerous elements, as I tried to incorporate everything that came to mind. However, the cluttered outcome didn’t align with the minimalist vision of UrbanNest. It was at this point that an inspiring Instagram post changed my perspective. The post emphasized the principle of "less is more," a philosophy central to both interior design and modern UI practices.
Motivated by this idea, I revisited my approach and made significant changes. Over 80% of the initial elements were discarded, leaving only those that added true value to the design. This shift not only simplified the visual appearance but also gave the layout a more cohesive and intentional structure. I focused on creating a single-page layout that feels clean, modern, and easy to navigate.
The final design uses a limited but harmonious color palette, inspired by earthy tones often found in contemporary interiors, such as beige, white, and muted greens. Typography was carefully selected to ensure readability while maintaining an elegant and modern feel. Additionally, white space was used strategically to create a sense of openness and direct attention to key elements, echoing the principles of well-designed interiors.
While the current design does not yet feature interactions or prototypes, I plan to enhance it further in the future. Adding interactive elements will bring the concept closer to a fully functional UI, allowing users to experience smooth transitions and responsive design elements. This minimalist concept represents my ability to refine and streamline a project under time constraints while staying true to its core vision.
The UrbanNest concept UI is more than a design—it’s a testament to my growth as a designer. It taught me the value of restraint and intentionality, both in design and process. This project reflects my ability to adapt, learn, and refine ideas to align with a clear vision.
I look forward to revisiting this project, adding interactions, and exploring prototypes to elevate it further. This experience reinforced the importance of blending functionality with aesthetics, much like the art of interior design itself.
